Staying Busy Leads To Productivity

Published on Thursday - April 24, 2014

Whenever you are making changes to your business or things have progressed to the point where you are constantly receiving deals, things can become very overwhelming. Instead of treating this scenario like the end of the world, you need to embrace this period and learn to deal with it. Staying busy leads to productivity and the potential to make a lot more money. If you don’t return calls or fail to follow through with your tasks, you will blow opportunities that are ripe for the picking. Having said that, you need to confront overwhelming situations with a can-do attitude and welcome the challenge.

It sounds simple enough, but the best way to beat a busy schedule is by staying organized. In staying organized, I mean more than just going about your tasks from the minute you wake up. It is better to take 20 minutes over a cup of coffee and write down exactly what needs to get done and in what order you want to do them. Instead of trying to do five things at once and getting nothing accomplished, focus on one task at a time. You may not get everything done on your list, but the things you do finish will be to your liking.

The next thing you should do is block off times of the day for certain projects. If you make the decision not to answer your phone from ten to noon, you had better block off an hour in the afternoon that you will dedicate to returning calls and emails. It is important not to forget how and why you are busy in the first place. In most cases, it is from the relationships you have forged that your business was born and able to grow. If you fail to keep this in mind, you may forget what made you successful in the first place. You need to place your contacts on the top of your to-do list.

Accomplishing tasks is made easier if you have a list. You may have five things that you need to do for the day, but if you put them in a list and knock them off one at a time they won’t seem as daunting. Start with the most important and work from there. Whatever you do, finish what you start before you move on to the next one. This will keep you motivated and focused to tackle every goal on your list.

If you are busy, you need to maximize your time. You may complain about not having enough hours in a day. However, truth is that many people just need to manage their time appropriately. If you waste an hour on a menial task or something that is not important, you will not be given that time back at the end of the day.

Being busy is what it’s all about. Take a deep breath and stay focused. Again, stay organized, as it will allow you to manage your time. You may only get one chance with someone and they don’t care how busy you are. Embrace this time and you will get maximum results.
