When thinking about getting started in the real estate business, there are literally dozens of ways to go. It is not uncommon to start one way before getting pulled in another direction. Soon enough, you will stop and start your way to nowhere. The best way to get and stay on track is to develop and stick to a system that works for you and that you follow every day. Whatever your system is and however you want to implement it, whether that be through the use of technology or a basic yellow pad, the stricter you are in following this the more productive your business will be.

There are many good applications and websites that will help you stay focused on your goals and develop a winning business plan. Wunderlist, Google Drive and Google Calendar are just a few of the many resources that you can tap into. If you are not technologically savvy, you can use whatever method you are comfortable with. It would be recommended that you implement some of the technologies that are available, but use whatever you feel can help you be most productive.

The biggest downfall in sticking with a system is getting frustrated when immediate results aren’t met. This starts a chain reaction in which you lose concentration and devote less time to your goals. You end up doing basically nothing for most of the day. Even the most disciplined people will get caught up in a project or with email and before they know it have lost three hours of their day. A good system means knowing what you should be doing at all hours of the day. Of course you can be flexible if things come up, but know what you need to be doing and when you should be doing it. The more you do these things, the more they become second nature. After time, you will start to see results.

Once you set up a system for how you want your business to go and when you will handle these tasks, it becomes easier to network yourself to others. You can portray this clear vision to everyone you talk to and they will feel it and want to work with you. Most everyone wants to make as much money as they can, but very few know how they are going to do so. Once you know the how, the results will slowly start to happen. Without a plan and a system, any positive results in your business are mostly luck and will be one time deals.

“Staying the course” and “keeping on track” are not just catchphrases used in business, they are real sayings you should follow every day. There are plenty of investors who come in and out of the business within one year because they have no plan and system in place. There will be days where you feel like you are doing the same thing over and over again, but if you stick with it, you will start to see results. Once you do, you are prepared to handle success and you will be in business for the long haul.
