Employees and friends raise nearly $2,000 to help provide highly trained service dogs for children, adults, and veterans with disabilities at no charge to the recipients

FortuneBuilders, the nation’s premier real estate investing education and business development company, helped sponsor Canine Companions For Independence 5th annual DogFest Walk-N-Roll on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The event was held at Liberty Station’s NTC park and featured live music, dog demonstrations, a one-mile walk, a raffle, volunteer booths, and more. Over 400 San Diego locals and their furry friends took part in the charity drive, at no charge, and enjoyed several festivities: a photo booth, face painting, doggy caricatures, and free giveaways from local vendors.

“FortuneBuilders, and our company’s philanthropic arm FBGives, is always passionate about giving back to our community, as well as communities across the U.S.,” explained FortuneBuilders founder and CEO Than Merrill. “When we discovered that our very own FortuneBuilders coaching student, Craig Connors, was a dedicated advocate of Canine Companions, the DogFest sponsorship seemed like the perfect fit. We love encouraging our students to make a difference and are always there to provide support,” said Merrill.

In preparation for DogFest Walk-N-Roll, FortuneBuilders hosted a “puppy play day” at their San Diego headquarters to help raise money for the event. Four service dogs in training gathered in the FortuneBuilders lobby, and were greeted with smiles and plenty of treats. With the help of employees and friends, puppy play day raised nearly $2,000 for Canine Companions.

Founded in 1975, Canine Companions For Independence is a nonprofit organization that breeds highly-trained service dogs to help enhance the lives of people with disabilities. The organization prides itself on providing lifelong support to ensure every dog is the perfect fit for his or her owner, and their services are always free of charge. Canine Companions opens up new opportunities and possibilities for those with disabilities, and they always strive to spread joy and confidence.

DogFest 2018 raised over $140,000 for Canine Companions and always appreciates donations from the public.
