Been following a property for weeks that was going to Sheriff Sale today, great property and we we're very excited to get it, the other bidder dropped out after one bid. When his name was called to pick up his check we realized it was the same name of the owner but the age didn't match. We didn't notice him as he was sitting behind us, we turned around to see that him and his wife looked visibly upset. My partner and I looked at each other and knew we had to find out what was going on. After talking with them it turns out they were there trying to buy back their son's home who fell upon hard times and hadn't told them what was going on until the day before. We told them we would sell them back the house for exactly what we paid for it, if we had known we would not have even bid but it was too late, paperwork was done. They couldn't believe that we would do that, the wife kept asking us why, and we told her because it was the right thing to do. We really wanted this property and spent a lot of time doing our due diligence and sending direct mail to their son, but when it was all over we had no regrets, sometimes good deeds are better than good deals!
